Tips on Using Microfiber Cloths in Your Home

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about using microfiber cloths to clean your
home. They can be used on windows, in the bathroom, or use them on
floors. But are they really better than using just regular cloths or paper
towels?

Why microfiber you ask? It saves money and it lasts longer than other
cloth towels and you’re not throwing money away like when you clean with
paper towels. You can clean with only water, therefore it’s safe for the
environment. It removes 99% of bacteria on the surfaces that you clean.
Microfiber has millions of fibers that lift and hold dirt and grime. So, we at
Safeguard Maid, use only microfiber to clean in our clients’ homes.

Microfiber cloths have many uses. Use them to wipe down kitchen
counters, shine and polish kitchen appliances including stainless steel,
streak free glass cleaning, cleaning the bathroom and dusting.

How to use microfiber
Use only one section of cloth at a time. Fold the cloth in half then fold in
half again. You will end up with eight sections. This will give you four on
each side.

For dusting, use the microfiber cloth dry. When wiping down other
surfaces dampen the cloth to clean.

When the cloth no longer can hold onto the dirt and grime and starts
depositing lint refold to use the other side. Continue cleaning until the
whole cloth has been used.

Microfiber cloths are washable. Follow the manufacture’s directions for
care.

Clean as You Go Tips

We, as Americans, spend on average 6 hours a week cleaning and doing
other chores. It’s even worse when we have a large home and active
children who can’t help making messes. Scheduling a certified house
cleaning service is the solution to your problem, but there is another
option.

What if you could change your approach to cleaning so you could cut the
amount of cleaning you have to do each week?

Clean as you go!

What that means is you do a little cleaning everyday by incorporating it
into other tasks around the house. Take 15 to 20 minutes each day to do
little simple tasks and leaving the bigger tasks for your weekly standard
cleanings. Your home will be tidier and your regular cleanings won’t be so
taxing.

What Are Some Things to Clean As You Go?

We’re not talking big jobs, just small jobs that will take no more than 15 to
20 minutes.

Wipe down kitchen counter tops while heating food in the microwave

Wash dishes right after you use them

Scrub the sink after washing the dishes

Wipe down shower before getting out

Sweep the kitchen floor after eating each evening

While food is cooking, wipe up any spills and put away spices or other
ingredient items you used.

After brushing your teeth, wipe up or rinse away any toothpaste in the
sink or on the bathroom counter.

We all want to have a clean home but other responsibilities like work and
taking care of our family make it hard to find the time to clean.
